Rest in peace.

Of course, this is kind of having the wake five years /after/ the death,
but oh well. :)

I remember how cool Codewarrior seemed the first time I used it. It was
Codewarrior Gold 5, I think. Unlike many people who cut their teeth on
Think Pascal, I really appreciated the way the debugger worked. It felt
like I was actually debugging the program, rather than riding a ferris
wheel. Compile times were decent enough, but I'd been spoiled by
Borland's Pascal for Windows compilers so they certainly weren't
impressive. First bug I hit was probably the one where the IDE would
compile units in the wrong order and fail builds. I don't remember my
first support incident specifically, but I remember I was emailed a
compiler to fix it.

Happy days.

Never could get going with Powerplant, now I don't need to.

NOOOOOO it isn't

Metrowerks corporation is merged into Freescale

Metrowerks is a brand name registered  to Freescale Semiconductor.

Metrowerks CodeWarrior Development Studio for Mac OS is still on track
for a release in a couple of weeks.

Well. That's good to know. Ron. Can you also tell us what's after that?
Specifically, what will happen to PowerPlant Classic and X? How is the
open source thing going?

I'm supposed to be in charge of open sourcing it and I'm waiting to hear
back from legal, but I don't think this is a big problem as Freeescale
has a process for open source.  I hope to have this before the end of
October.
