CodeWarrior Hangs

Has anyone found a solution to the CodeWarrior hangs while editing and
debugging?  I've seen some discussions complaining about this but no
definitive solutions.  I am using CodeWarrior 9.6 under OS 10.4.2.  While
debugging or just editing, CodeWarrior takes over the computer using 100% of
the CPU and does massive I/O.  This continues indefinitely until I Force
Quit the application.  I have turned off all caching in the CodeWarrior
preferences and the project preferences.  VooDoo is disconnected.  This
problem is getting more frequent and is making CodeWarrior practically
unusable for me.

XCode. I'm not being sarcastic either. This went on for so long and got so
bad that by comparison the incredible slowness of gcc (and gdb loading &
resolving breakpoints) doesn't matter. The transition wasn't trivial, but
I've been through worse.

I can't reproduce this, this seems to be a problem on a few people's
machines and I have no understanding of what is wrong.

The first thing I'd do is trash the data folder and Metrowerks
preferences before launching CodeWarrior.  Re-search for files, Check
your access paths get rid of any recursive paths.  change the language
parser to Compiler and  if it still hangs delete any 3rd party tools you
may have installed to see if that is the problem.

If it hang starting debugging cycle then make sure the break on C++
exceptions is off or you have an access path to the runtime library
sources in your path so it isn't shielded.

There is no reason why CodeWarrior IDE should hang on you.

Ron,

I've tried all your suggestions and I think I have narrowed the problem down
to one preference.  I had CodeWarrior stabilized so that it was not hanging.
I then turned on the CodeWarrior preference "Attempt to show the dynamic
runtime type of objects".  The hangs came back.  I turned this preference
back off but the problem didn't go away until I rebooted.  Now the problem
is gone.  I don't see how this preference could effect just editing.
However, it sounds like it would effect the debugger when displaying
variables.

Weird, I'm not sure why it would do this but I'll pass this on the the
IDE team.

Thanks, for the detective work.  It is probably too late for CW 10 if it
is a bug but we'll try.
