No Debugging after CodeWarrior 8 to 9 conversion

After converting my project from CodeWarrior 8.3 to CodeWarrior 9.3, the
Debugger doesn't get control when the Debug menu command is invoked.  The
message indicates that CodeWarrior is "Loading debugging data for
target...", there is a long delay and nothing else happens.  I tried
deleting all the data files and object code and rebuilding from scratch with
the same result.  Another project works fine under the same CodeWarrior 9.3
on the same computer.  Any suggestions on what could have gone wrong with
the conversion?

You do have XCode installed, right?  Also, there is a CW 9.4.

I'll install CW 9.4 and see if anything changes.  Why should I be concerned
about XCode?  It's on my system but hasn't been changed since 12/03.

Sounds like a corrupted file or lost pathname.  Trash all the .sym files
delete the data folder.   Trash the Metrowerks preferences folder  open
the project and re-search for files and see if that makes any difference.

Thanks Ron,

The project is now back to normal.  I guess I didn't trash enough stuff.

Ron,

I discovered the actual cause of my conversion problem.  The trashing of
CodeWarrior's preferences set the Debugger preference "Use Terminal for
standard in/out" to true.  Now when I debug, the Terminal window opens and
displays details of the debugging session.  Since I never had this option
turned on, I turned it off.  This caused the same problem I originally had.
No debugging session starts after a long delay.  I had to quit CodeWarrior
since it was still starting the process.  I turned the option back on and
again I was able to debug.  Is there a setting that I can use to not display
the Terminal and still debug?

This usually means that your app is crashing very early on launch. Can you run
the app outside of debugger?

Yes, the app runs fine outside of the Debugger.

Read the I think Building A Mach-O Poject  release notes  (not sure on
the exact name,  but I believe it tells you which file to include if you
turn that off If it isn't there let us know and I'll look it up  in the
morning.
