Before I get myself stuck in what I suspect is difficult terrain: has anyone
tried compiling the open-source database MySQL with CodeWarrior? How about
PHP? Experiences?

My current version is CW Pro 3.

Correction: My more current version is CW Learning Edition 3.

One presumes you are already running OS X (since you won't be able to
use MySQL or PHP on anything else), so it would be easiest to build
them with OS X's bundled UNIX toolset (gcc compiler, etc).

Even easier would be to use a pre-built package, such as those
available from Marc Liyanage or mysql.com:

Thanks, that looks very cool.

Since you have the Learning Edition I don't think you can do this.  You
can't develop Libraries and the limited number of files is probably
prohibitive too.

But none the less we have found a problem with compiling MySQL with
CodeWarior and are fixing it now, but I don't know about any public
patches for CW 9 owners,

I don't know about that

Thanks - I'd forgotten about those limitations. I guess this might be a good
reason to upgrade.

I'd be interested in compiling MySQL/PHP for both OS X and Win XP. About the
MySQL bug, will that be fixed in the next CW release?

I think it may be just sent out to people that need it for a while until
there is enough fixes to make a patch.  (sending a fix out costs
nothing, sending a patch our takes almost a week of regression testing
plus building installers and so on).
